Pressure & Thermal Relief Valves
|
PRESSURE RELIEF VALVES The pressure relief valve is used to release pressure when a PSI threshold is exceeded. Pressure relief vavles are usually installed on the high pressure side of a pump and set 300-400 PSI above the unloader setting, protecting against unloader failure. |

THERMAL RELIEF VALVES The thermal relief valve is used to protect the pump from overheating (pump water seals damage). If the unloader is in bypass for extended amounts of time the water temperature increases. Once the thermal relief valve rated temperature is exceeded, circulating water is discharged and new cooler water from the water inlet is allowed in. Thermal relief valves are a cheap way to protect a pump against thermal damage. |
